5 crazy strategies Taylor Swift applies to stay relevant

In case you didn’t know, Taylor Swift was the top-paid entertainer in 2019, beating everyone else on the list with $185 million. This much money is no surprise to those who have been following her. I personally, was waiting for her to be the highest earner, just because I noticed she did some controversial things no one else had dared to do.

5. Use Noble Causes to Promote Your Product

Taylor took a sensitive issue that however, is very much in the safe zone and already has many, many advocates (supporting the Equality Act), and dedicated a record, along with a music video to it. We’re talking about ‘You Need to Calm Down’. She also involved a whole lot of celebrities in it. First and foremost who could say no to it? Everyone likes a cameo here and there. It adds to the credibility. Plus it’s positive bonus points in the public eye. You start thinking that she is fighting for a positive cause, thus proning you to like her music and give it more room for being mediocre. Because that is what it is. A very average song. If she had put it out on its own, no cause-affiliated motivation, no multiplied promo from the snowball effect of having involved that many famous faces, no dedicated interviews, this song wouldn’t have charted at all.

4. Play The Victim Card

Taylor sure likes to play the victim. As we all know by now, she NEVER is guilty for any of her failed relationships, the men being the ones carrying the weight of taking responsibility. And she likes to drop hints as to who her songs are addressed to, in case we weren’t checking her personal life before (check 0:47 HERE). This self-pitying fest, encourages empathy from the public and spikes interest in the lyrics, as we assume they’re reflective of her personal life and so we, the listeners, go searching for hidden clues and drama. Oh and if that wasn’t enough, remember how she used to say she never gave permission to Kanye to publicize those lyrics? and that she was the one taken advantage of? Sure… until Kim Kardashian came with receipts and shut the whole thing down.

3. Set Up a Famous Squad

Taylor and her A list Squad in the Bad Blood music video

I don’t know of any other celebrity who has relied so much on other famous friends to push her product. We’re talking about the very much acclaimed ‘Bad Blood’. Take a look at the A listers who were in the music video: Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez, Mariska Hargitay, Ellen Pompeo, Martha Hunt, Jessica Alba, Serayah, Karlie Kloss, Lena Dunham, Hailee Steinfeld, Ellie Goulding, Gigi Hadid, Hailey Williams, Zendaya, Lily Aldrige, Cindy Crawford. Now think of how each one of these persons further promoted the music video, and how easy it was for Taylor to break records with so much star power behind the music video. SMH.

2. Send Flower Arrangements to EVERYONE

This one is a rather nice thing to do but Taylor goes the extra mile when it comes to this, knowing, or at least hoping, every person receiving it will boast about it to their own platforms of followers. She famously sent Cardi B a huge bouquet of roses, when Cardi’s album reached #1 and dethroned ‘Reputation’ by Taylor Swift in 2018. She also sent flowers to all of her dancers from the ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ music video. She also sent flowers to all of the employees of Craftsy in Denver. Also, for no apparent reason, sent flowers to Lea Michele. Supposedly for having read the booklet of her album. Bruh… Hold on, it doesn’t end here. The model Aira Ferreira also got a bouquet of flowers from Swift, because she apparently listens to her music? Why didn’t Taylor send flowers to anonymous people? Oh! I already responded to that question above.

1. Dramatize Your Whole Life

I think Taylor would have been a sensational journalist, as she has this innate ability to exaggerate every little thing that has to do with her. If you’ve ever listened to an interview with Taylor, you’ll most probably have had the sensation that this girl just talked about the most mundane things ever, and yet makes them sound so out of ordinary and so important. The most recent thing she did, was talking about her weight, saying she was accused of being too thin. Huh? Nobody thinks about Taylor’s weight. We were used to her being thin because she has ALWAYS been so. She also thinks it is so out of this world that she writes, or co-writes her songs. Darling… have you heard of independent artists? Or ghostwriters? These people write their music 24/7 and never make a fuss about it. They don’t expect to be rewarded just because they do what a musician is supposed to be doing. She also loves blaming her artistic shortcomings on misogyny. At this point, I truly believe that more people know about her antics, her drama, and her opinions, than about her music. Taylor, you’ve had a couple of good songs, but you are also very much try-harding to stay relevant. Your music alone, is not that great to keep you relevant on the charts. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.
