1. What inspired you to create indie choral folk music?
“No definite inspiration is the answer. I just love creating harmonies and layering vocals. I like to use my voice like the strings on a keyboard.”
2. How has your Irish heritage influenced your sound?
“I use two of the most renowned instruments associated with Irish music: the mandolin and more recently, the mandola.”
3. Biggest lesson as an independent artist?
“It’s damn hard working in a supersaturated music industry.”
4. Which traditional Irish songs or artists have had the biggest impact on your music?
“‘Galileo’ by Declan O’Rourke, ‘Fool’ by Mick Flannery and ‘The Raggle Taggle Gypsies’ from Planxty. Brilliant stuff!”
5. 1 mainstream song you enjoy greatly?
“‘In Your Eyes’ by The Weekend”
6. If your music could be the soundtrack to a movie, which one would it be?
“My latest tune ‘Nothing But Tears’ would fit in nicely with the movie ‘There Will Be Blood‘.”
7. Are you working solo on your music, or do you hire help?
“I write and create all my music and use the brilliant lads from The production Suite, Dublin, to mix and produce the songs.”
8. What role do you think independent artists play in preserving traditional music styles?
“Just look at Damien Dempsey, Christy Moore, Mick Flannery, to name but a few. They are championing Irish music and bringing it to a larger audience.”
9. Mozart on loop or Madonna on repeat?
“Mozart.”
10. Any backhanded compliments you receive as a musician?
“I just put them in the recycle bin if they do happen.”

11. If you could collaborate with any musician, living or dead, who would it be and why?
“Always thought Jeff Buckley would be great to work with. He was destined to accomplish so much more.”
12. What’s the most surprising or unexpected instrument you’ve incorporated into your music?
“Mandola. I’ve actually used it in a song that’s not released yet.”
13. How do you stay connected to your Irish roots while also exploring new musical ideas?
“I don’t need to as such as it just comes out in the music anyway!”
14. What’s your favorite Irish pub or venue to perform in, and why?
“Langtons in Kilkenny. Intimate, nice stage and a lovely seating area for the guests!”
15. TikTok or MySpace?
“Don’t use either!”
16. The color of your sound?
“Green.”

17. If you could travel back in time and meet any historical figure from Ireland, who would it be and why?
“John O’Donohue. He was an Irish poet, author, philosopher, and priest. I have a few of his books, such as ‘Anam Cara’.”
18. What’s your favorite traditional Irish dish or treat to enjoy after a long day of making music?
“After a long winter’s day, Irish Stew is hard to beat!”
19. If your music were a mythical creature from Irish folklore, what would it be and why?
“The Cailleach. Being able to influence the weather and control the wind and the rain sounds good in my book!”
20. 3 things you appreciate about being an independent artist in today’s music industry?
“1. Having complete control over my music. 2. The ability to release music affordably. 3. Being able to record at home.”
21. If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be and why?
“Clint Eastwood. I respect his perseverance to never give up and keep working. Loved the spaghetti westerns too!”
