10 Modern Music Stars Who Famously Love Cats

We all know thanks to Bohemian Rhapsody with Rami Malek, that Freddie Mercury had over 10 cats during his lifetime who he considered his family. But did you know there are a lot of modern voices who profess their love for felines as well? We’ve compiled for you a list of 10 modern musicians who famously love cats. Enjoy the read and see if you share the same breed!

10. Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore is a terriffic actress, singer, and human being. Her four cats are all rescue cats named Vincent, Theo, Addison, and Maddie (passed away in 2018). All four felines appear to be Domestic Shorthair. Theo, the one portrayed in the photo, Theo, joined the family in 2009.

9. Kesha

Kesha has had multiple cats throughout the years but Carl is the most recent family member. He appears to have long hair, short ears, and suffer from severe cuteness overload. The breed is officially unknown but the feline would seem to be a Domestic Long Hair or possibly a British Longhair.

8. Cee Lo Green

Purrfect, a majestic Persian cat, became a celebrity in her own right during the artist’s presence on the Voice show. We don’t know the feline’s exact age as she was a rescue, but by Cee Lo’s own account, the cat was 3 to 4 years old in 2012.

7. Lea Michele

The singer, actress Lea Michele gushed about her Ragdoll cat on The Ellen Show in 2012. While the hostess argued that the cat can’t be a Ragdoll, well Ellen, it actually can. They are rare, but black Ragdoll cats do exist.

6. Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran’s cats have their own Instagram and let us tell you, they’re more famous than you or us. Calippo is a Scottish Fold while Dorito seems to be a Domestic Shorthair. Ed and his wife adopted both cats in 2017. Last post on the cats’ IG dates back to 2020 and we sure wish he’d update it more often.

5. Mackelmore

Mackelmore’s cat, Cairo, has the aspect of a Domestic Shorthair and is incomprehensably adorable. The Rap artist adopted Cairo in 2014 and has won the hearts of over 45k followers on his own Instagram.

4. Ellie Goulding

Embrace yourself for a bonafide regal name: Topcatsuk Royal Wallace. Otherwise known as Wallace, is just one of Ellie Goulding’s cats. He appears to be a Bengal cat based on the visible leopard patterns and has been added to the singer’s family since 2015. The other two cats are named Lennon and Eve.

3. Jennifer Lopez

Presumed to be a Devon Rex, Hendrix, JLo’s newest family addition took place during the winter holidays in 2021. The Devon Rex is a particular breed as they are considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic cats in the world. Technically, however, there is not a single cat in the world that is hypoallergenic. Some just produce the Fel d 1 protein in smaller quantities than the rest.

2. Taylor Swift

Whether you like her music or not, Taylor Swift is amazing for openly and consistently showing love to her cats on the gram and everywhere else. According to Yahoo, the Pop Country singer has two Scottish folds with full first name and last name included, Meredith Grey (since 2011) and Olivia Benson (since 2014); and a Ragdoll named Benjamin Button (since 2019).

1. Jason Mraz

We LOVE how Jason Mraz involves his cats so often in his social media posts! The Folk-Pop singer’s first-ever cat as a child was a Fluffy Ragdoll. Now, as an adult, Jason has 3 furries in his life that help him with his songwriting process. Two of the cats are sisters adopted from the San Diego Humane Society.
