Although similar in expression, music does require plenty of mathematics and a natural sense of rhythm thus not all actors successfully transition to singers. 20. Joseph Gordon Levitt
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is an American actor, filmmaker, and musician. He began his music career in 2009, founding an online collaborative production company called HitRecord. The company, which focuses on collaborative creative projects, includes a music division that has released several albums. The actor knows to play guitar, bass, drums, and piano. In 2011, he released a single called Needle in the Hay and in 2012, he released a collaborative album with HitRecord called HitRECord Recollection, Vol. 1. In addition to his work with HitRecord, Gordon-Levitt has also contributed to the soundtracks of several films, including (500) Days of Summer, Looper, and The Night Before. His music has been described as eclectic, incorporating elements of Indie Rock, Hip Hop, and Electronic music.
19. Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep, an American actress and singer, has had a successful career in both film and music. Streep’s music career began with her role in the 1990 film Postcards from the Edge, in which she sang several songs. She then went on to play the lead role in the 2008 film Mamma Mia! and its 2018 sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, both of which featured Streep’s vocals in several ABBA songs. Outside of her film work, Streep has performed on several soundtracks and in various concert events. In 2015, she received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for her narration on the audiobook The One and Only Shrek! Plus 5 Other Stories. Streep is widely recognized for her performances in the films Sophie’s Choice, The Devil Wears Prada, and The Iron Lady.
18. Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence, the American actress known for her versatile roles in Hollywood, has expressed her aspirations to pursue a music career. While primarily recognized for her acting talent, Lawrence has displayed her vocal abilities in various films and even performed the famous Hanging Tree in the movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. In addition, Lawrence has mentioned her interest in recording an album and collaborating with musicians such as Lorde and Adele. Some of her most famous movies include The Hunger Games series, Silver Linings Playbook for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress, and American Hustle for which she received another Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Although primarily known for her successful acting career, Emma Stone has also dabbled in music throughout her career. In 2010, she made her singing debut in the film Easy A with a rendition of Pocketful of Sunshine. She also showcased her vocal skills in the film La La Land, which earned her critical acclaim and a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. Additionally, she provided vocals for the soundtrack of the film The Croods: A New Age in 2020. Stone is most famous for her roles in the movies La La Land, The Help, and Birdman.
16. Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman is an Australian actor, singer, and producer who has achieved great success in both film and theater. Although best known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men film series, Jackman has also made significant contributions to the world of music. He has performed in numerous stage musicals, including Oklahoma!, The Boy from Oz, and Les Misérables, and released several albums throughout his career. In 2019, he embarked on a world tour titled The Man. The Music. The Show. which showcased his singing and dancing abilities. Jackman has also been recognized for his work in film, including his roles in The Greatest Showman, Logan, and Prisoners. Despite his success in multiple areas of entertainment, Jackman remains humble and dedicated to his craft.
15. Emma Watson
Emma Watson is a British actress, model, and activist who gained worldwide fame for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series. She has also starred in other successful movies, including The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Beauty and the Beast. In addition to her acting career, Watson has pursued music endeavors. She sang on the soundtracks for several of the Harry Potter films, including The Philosopher’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets. In 2010, she collaborated with fellow actor Johnny Flynn on a song called Silent Night for a charity album. Watson also lent her voice to the soundtrack of Beauty and the Beast, where she sang the iconic song Belle. While Watson has dabbled in music, her primary focus remains on acting and activism.
14. Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow is an American actress, singer, author, and businesswoman. She has appeared in numerous films and television series, including Shakespeare in Love, which won her an Academy Award for Best Actress, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Iron Man. In addition to her acting career, Paltrow has also pursued music, releasing her first album, Duets, in 2000, which featured collaborations with other artists such as Huey Lewis and Babyface. She has also performed in several films, including Country Strong (2010), in which she played a country singer, and Glee (2010-2011), in which she played a substitute teacher who leads the school’s glee club.
13. Kate Winslet
Kate Winslet is an Academy Award-winning actress who has also explored her musical talents. In 2001, she recorded the song What If for the soundtrack of the animated film Christmas Carol: The Movie. The song was a commercial success in the UK, reaching number six on the charts. In 2005, she performed the song My Heart Will Go On with Celine Dion at the Tsunami Aid telethon. She has also performed in musical theater productions, including The Secret Garden and Cabaret. Winslet is most famous for her roles in the movies Titanic (1997), The Reader (2008), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).
12. Jack Black
Jack Black is an American actor, comedian, and musician. He first gained recognition as a member of the comedy duo Tenacious D, which he formed with Kyle Gass in the mid-1990s. The duo’s self-titled debut album, released in 2001, was a critical and commercial success, earning them a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. Some of Jack Black’s most successful songs with Tenacious D include Tribute, Wonderboy, and The Metal.
Aside from Tenacious D, Jack Black has also released music as a solo artist and contributed to soundtracks for various films, including School of Rock and Kung Fu Panda. His most successful solo single to date is Let’s Get It On, which reached the top 50 on the UK Singles Chart in 2006.
11. Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jennifer Love Hewitt is an American actress, singer, and producer who began her career as a child actress. Hewitt has also released several successful albums. Her music career began in 1992 when she signed with Atlantic Records and released her debut album, Love Songs. Her most successful music project was her 2002 album, BareNaked, which reached number 37 on the Billboard 200 chart. Additionally, her single How Do I Deal from the movie I Still Know What You Did Last Summer reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The actress is recognized for her performances in the romantic comedy Can’t Hardly Wait in 1998, the drama Heartbreakers in 2001, and the supernatural drama Ghost Whisperer (2005–2010).
