Whether you’re looking for a good time or a good rhyme, the following new classics will illuminate your mood and transpose you to better times because boy… Do we need some uplifting music these days in support of all women across the world (US especially). With that being said, feel free to thank us if you end up adding one (or all) of the songs to your Summer Vibes playlist!
10. Rise Up by Yves LaRock
The soulful vocals, the breezy lyrics, the Dance-House instrumentation, the ridiculously catchy hook, all make up the 15-year-old release, Rise Up. The song is co-written and recorded by Swiss DJ Yves Larock with uncredited vocals by Jaba. The song was an instant hit when it came out and it took over all charts across the world. Yves LaRock was especially impressed with India’s reception of his masterpiece.
9. When Love Takes Over by David Guetta ft. Kelly Rowland
The one song that showed Kelly Rowland’s potential for going full Dance mode. While the singer definitely dabbed more into the genre via more collaborations with David Guetta, When Love Takes Over was truly the standalone piece that cemented the singer’s name in the international audience’s mind. Released 13 years ago, the single became David Guetta’s best charing single in US and Kelly Rowland’s first number-one single in the UK.
8. Love Generation by Bob Sinclar
Released an entire 17 years ago, Love Generation was what you’d wake up to when first turning on the TV in the morning. Even if it’s winter when you hear out the song, it’ll feel like summer in your soul with Gary Pine’s vocals. The present and leading acoustic guitar paired with the warm choir-like pam-pam-pam supporting backs, birthed a whimsical showpiece that lifts the spirit up immediately. A major chart-topper, Love Generation is inarguably Bob Sinclar’s mark in the world.
7. Levels by Avicii
The House record released 11 years ago is still shown massive love by pretty much everyone who’s into the genre. On YouTube alone, Levels stands at nearly 600 million views as of June 2022. The song charted in the top 10 positions in countries like Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Switzerland. It was certified platinum 8 times in Sweden, twice – the UK, and once – the US. Some would even claim this is Avicii’s most popular song ever.
6. Hotel Room Service by Pitbull
Released 13 years ago, Hotel Room Service put Pitbull on the map. The song was a club banger and it amalgamates three entire samples: Rapper’s Delight, One and One, and Push the Feeling On. Many of us didn’t even know the man was trying for a good while to be a Rap artist in Miami when he decided to switch lanes and made it as a mainstream act of Dance music infused with Pop Rap bars. We admire the hustle and the fact that Pitbull made his dreams come true although it took major adjusting.
5. Rain Over Me by Pitbull ft. Marc Anthony
The feel-good, euphoric collaboration between the Latin legend Marc Anthony and chart-topper, Pitbull, was one for the books. Other co-writers involved names like RedOne, Bilal The Chef Hajji, AJ Janussi, and Rachid Rush Aziz. Released 11 years ago, the summer hit was remixed vehemently by big DJs around the world and it was the safest crowd-pleaser in years! The numbers back the fact up with the music video having currently garnered 1,171,656,497 views as of June 29th, 2022. The song was so phenomenal in reception that it charted both in 2011 and 2012 across the globe.
4. TiK ToK by Ke$ha
Cowritten with the infamous Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco, TiK ToK was the sh*t! The Electro-Pop tune achieved tremendous commercial success having topped the charts in eleven countries. In the US alone, the song broke the record for the biggest single-week sum of all time for a female artist selling 610,000 digital downloads in one week. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, the song got certified eight times platinum by the RIAA and sold nearly 7 million copies in the US. Oh yes, we should mention it was released a whole 13 years ago!
3. Lady (Hear Me Tonight) by Modjo
The oldest song on the list, since it was released to the world in 2000, Lady (Hear Me Tonight) belongs to a French House duo, vocalist Yann Destagnol and producer Romain Tranchart. The song itself has a heavy nostalgic vibe to it and it emotionally takes you to the middle of the desert while in a classic, limited-edition convertible. There’s so much sexiness and sadness at the same time vividly expressed in Lady that the record became a classic as soon as it came out. Its worldwide success was reflected in the amazing chart positions it climbed in the EU, US, Australia, and CA.
2. Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira
Released 16 years ago, Hips Don’t Lie had every single millennial teenager trying belly dance moves in front of the mirror. Wyclef Jean most definitely brought the spice to the table and made the song sound soulful while allowing Shakira to shine in all her femininity and glittery outfits. The song garnered multiple awards including a People’s Choice Award, an MTV Latin America Video Music Award, and an MTV Video Music Award. The Latin Pop and Reggaeton blend turned out to be a majestic sonic achievement.
1. Alors On Danse by Stromae
Released 13 years ago, the Belgian Stromae quickly became his country’s rep on the worldwide stage. His song Alors On Danse reached the peak position at home in Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the entire Eastern EU, Russia included. Alors On Danse was the most-played French-language single of the 2010s. Needless to say, Stromae never again had to worry about working in an office as in the music video. The man is now a bonafide legend.
